Do Repouso, the construction of central prison was completed in 1909. Thanks to its location ,which was at the city centre, the prison was commonly referred as “city jail”. It was Macau’s only prison. In 1990, the construction of Coloane Prison was completed. The bureau transferred all prisoners from Central Prison to Coloane Prison.
